I could take the hd out of the 98 one and hook it up on the CD ROM drive of the XP one and burn the screensaver files from that (or take them off and put them in the XP folder wherever the current sc files are (SYSTEMS I think or SYSTEMS 32. I might find an old floppy disk around but I've found that floppies made on older computers don't open in the new one. Think it's too old and not powerful enough (for the burner)

It's an old one someone once gave me, I reinstalled WIN 98, put in a CD burner I had- thinking I could use it in the bedroom, and transfer files back and forth on CDs, but the CD software wouldn't go in. I could set up the WIN98 PC (with a monitor, etc) and find the screensavers, but I don't have a CD burner that works on it, so I can't save them to put on the XP one. From my searches, I found others looking for and asking about this, too. It's not a big deal and I don't really want them all (and some are the same in XP) but would be fun to have the "Science" one. I was also trying to find someplace that might have them to download online. I didn't even find (for sure) if 98 screensavers could be put in XP. I have an old PC that has WIN98 in it, but it isn't set up (monitor, etc) and doesn't have a CD burner, which I'd need to find the files, save them and put them in XP.

Unless it can only be found AFTER it's put in (setup)? I'd have to first run "setup" into a separate folder that wouldn't try and put it ON my machine?

I have a full install 98 CD and opened it (explore) but can't find anything on it that says system, that would have the screensaver files. I've had WINXP for 2 1/2 years and just realized it doesn't have ALL the same screensavers as 98 had.įrom searches, some thought the old WIN98 instal CD could be used, like find the screensaver folder and put them in the XP one (System in 98 and System32 in XP or the other way around) I was telling someone about the screensaver that came with WIN98, I think it's called "Science" (or "Weird Science"?) It used whatever was on the desktop, and put effects on it, like falling into a hole (vortex) or a ball under the screen moving around distorting the looks. I checked to see if it was Firewalls or McAfee and it is not.I've been looking this up and found some posts in the archives.

EXE files to C:\windows\system32, just not. I CAN copy other files to C:\windows\system32. I have logged into this XP machine as an Admin and run GPRESULTS /Z NO GPO'S ARE BEING APPLIED !! Yet I still can't rename this file. I have blocked all other GPO's from running. I have taken my XP machine and placed it into it's own OU within AD. CMD file has the followingĬopy %~dp0*sc.sc1 "c:\windows\system32" /y I have tried pushing out sc.scr using SCCM 2007 which runs in the System Account. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file si not currently in use.
